Questions About Getting Started?
Everything you need to know about beginner social dance classes for mature adults in Ireland
Absolutely not! We've taught hundreds of people over 45 who've never set foot in a dance studio. The beauty of social dance is that you learn at your own pace, and our classes are specifically designed for beginners. Many of our students tell us they wish they'd started years earlier.
Bachata is slower, more intimate, and focuses on smooth hip movements and close partner connection—think romantic and controlled. Salsa is faster, more energetic, and involves more footwork and spins. We offer beginner fundamentals in both, so you can discover which style suits you better.
Most beginners start feeling genuinely comfortable within 6-8 weeks of regular classes. We teach partner connection from week one in a safe, supportive way—you're never forced into anything. By 10-12 weeks, many students are ready to dance at a social event and actually enjoy it.
Yes, we have beginner-friendly classes in both Waterford and Kilkenny. Both locations offer the same supportive, adult-focused approach. We recommend visiting or contacting us to find out which venue and schedule works best for your lifestyle.
Social dancing improves balance, coordination, and cardiovascular fitness while building muscle strength—without the repetitive strain of a gym. It's also fantastic for mental health: you're learning something new, connecting with others, and releasing endorphins. Many of our students report better sleep and reduced stress within the first month.
Come alone! We rotate partners during class so everyone learns both leading and following. It's actually a great way to build confidence and meet people with the same interests.
